Athena is the Goddess of Wisdom and Skills. She was brave and possessed the essence of all that is noble. Legend tells us that she possessed the gifts of dignity, power, and youth, making her invincible.

The St. Paul Area Athena Awards program honors outstanding female senior student-athletes from St. Paul and suburban public and independent schools for their athletic achievements. The award is based on excellence in individual sports or for participation and accomplishments in team sports. This award is strictly for school sports accomplishments with other achievements being secondary.  

SPA students, faculty, and coaches had the opportunity to nominate a deserving student-athlete from the class of 2025. The nominees were then, invited to submit an application of athletic achievements and accolades from their SPA Varsity careers. This year’s winners will be chosen with care by an awards committee and announced by the end of the month. The SPA Athena honoree will be recognized with other award winners from 50+ schools at the Athena Awards event on April 16th.
