Maren Overgaard '26 & Helen Townley '25 Take Second at State Nordic Championships, Team Places Sixth Overall
SPA’s girls’ Nordic team had a great performance at the Minnesota State Nordic Championship meet, held on February 15-16, at Giant’s Ridge.
The sprint team of Maren Overgaard ’26 and Helen Townley ’25 came in second in the relay sprint race with a time of 16:19 and 156 total points. Interviewed by the St. Paul Pioneer Press after the race, Overgaard said their second-place finish was more than they could have asked for. “Coming into this year, our goal was to win but also just to see how much better we could do compared to last year and just how good we could do compared to the other competitors, because those other teams are all incredible,” Overgaard said. “All those other girls are incredible skiers. We were really excited to see what we could do against each other.”
Overall the team placed sixth, and individual finishes included Inga Wing ’25 (25th), Taylor Barkwell ’25 (42nd), Paloma Good ’27 (62nd), Alyda Overgaard ’28 (77th), and Eleanor Mody ’27 (105th). See full individual results here and team results here.
Congratulations to the entire team on a great season and go Spartans!
