Girls Tennis | Team Page

After defeating MPA in the opening round, girls’ tennis fell in the Section 4A semifinals to Blake. In individual section competition, Nellie Larson ‘26 advanced to the singles semifinals and Nabeeha Qadri ‘27/Elle Williams ‘26 advanced to the doubles semifinals. Nellie placed third overall in Section 4A after defeating a student-athlete from Blake. Nabeeha and Elle placed fourth overall in Section 4A.

SPA Soccer capped off a remarkable postseason in championship fashion, winning the Class 1A Minnesota State title in a 2-0 victory against Rochester on Friday, November 1 at U.S. Bank Stadium. This is the boys’ third straight title, the program’s seventh championship overall, and only the second time in state history that a team has won three consecutive titles since Edina’s threepeat in 1999-2001 | State Tournament Bracket

Girls’ soccer received the #2 seed in Section 3A and defeated the #7 seed Minnehaha Academy in the opening round 4-0 and the #3 seed St. Croix Lutheran 1-0 in the semifinals. They defeated Visitation 1-0 on Wednesday, October 16 to capture the Section 3A title for the third straight year and advance to the State Tournament! SPA fell in the quarterfinal round of the Class A State Tournament to the #3 seed St. Charles 1-0 in a thrilling overtime battle | State Tournament Bracket

After a strong performance at the Section 4A meet on Tuesday, October 22, Taylor Barkwell ’25 represented SPA at the State meet on Saturday, November 2. At State, she finished 15th overall, earning All-State Honors.

Girls Swim and Dive | Team Page

In the varsity diving conference finals on October 23, Avital Coleman ’27 was crowned champion with a diving score of 328.80, and on October 25, Adele Gjerde ’25 was crowned champion in the 100 Yard Butterfly. As a team, the Sparks finished second in the St. Paul City Conference behind Central with a score of 458. 

In the section dive meet, Avital Coleman placed 4th overall, earning herself a ticket to compete at the State AA Dive Meet at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center! 

Many Sparks swimmers had PR performances at the Section swim prelims as well. Most notably, Adele Gjerde advanced to the Section finals in the 100 fly and 200 free. Gjerde also competed in the Section Championship with other Highland Park teammates as part of the 200 and 400 free relay teams. On November 9th, Adele Gjerde ’25 earned a ticket to compete at the State AA swim meet in the 100 fly event!

Spartan Volleyball improved to an impressive, 11-8 record and received the #5 seed in Section 4AA. They picked up 5 more wins over last season and defeated MPA 3-1 in the opening round of the Section Tournament on Tuesday, October 22. They fell to the #4 seed Minnehaha Academy in a thrilling 5-set battle on Thursday, October 24. | Bracket
